Sonja, Kathey and I did a 5K on Jan 30th. IT WAS SO FREAKIN COLD!! 27 degrees and SUPER windy...and we were right on the water at White Rock. Sonja forgot her gloves in the car and I'm surprised her fingers didn't freeze and fall of! Kathey was the only one of us smart enough to have a hat. Other than freezing our butts off, I think we had fun. Afterwards we went to breakfast and to the movie. It was fun to hang out with grown ups. :) Kathey put together the picture above. At the bottom there is me,then Sonja, then Kathey. Don't we look like we're having fun?? LOL!
Kathey and I have registered for the Mardi Gras 5K on 2/13 (Sonja is thinking about it), and we're all going to do the Cowtown on 2/27. I'm attempting a 10K there....wish me luck and pray for weather warmer than 27 degrees.

They say your mind is the 1st thing to go.....

.....so, yes, I've probably lost mine. I have recently decided that I need to get healthy. Not so much lose weight (which I'm hoping will be part of it) but basically just take care of myself and try to eat right and excercise. I've done two things I've dreaded the very most....gone to the Dr for my annual exam (which I put off for almost 3 yrs) and gone to the Dentist (which I put off for even longer).
I have been paying a gym membership each month and haven't gone in about a year so I decided to go back. I'm using the treadmills, the bikes, and I've done a little leg weights. I also discovered that they offer Yoga classes, which I tried and love! I've taken two classes so far. They offer them twice a week and I'm going to try to hit as many as I can. They also offer Zumba classes on the weekend which I will try for the first time this weekend. I hear those are a lot of fun....I'll let ya know! :)
I've also decided to try running, although I'm not really sure what I do can be called RUNNING...it's more of a quick walk/slow jog sorta thing. :) I did the KwanzaaFest 5K in December and I've now registered for the Texas 5K at the end of this month, The Cowtown 10K in February, The Dallas Rock n Roll Half in March, and we have the March of Dimes March for Babies in April (please donate if you can - see my previous post). I hope I can keep this up! It would be nice to be "Fit & Forty" this year. :)
